Presenting Fluffy Towells

I would love to present fluffy towells .......
to my family everday !

Recently I have needed to use my dryer a few times to dry the towells on our rare overcast days
I had forgotten how luxurious they could be ........

They looked as fluffy as the clouds in the sky......

and felt as soft as a kitten....

So I have a dilemma that I need help with.
What is the secret to keeping towells looking new & fresh for longer ?
Is there a way.....

Without harming our world......

I have always line dried since living in a sunny state, but now there is the guilt of using too much water, using electricity when not required or being aware of the type of washing detergent going into our waterways.

Is it the thickness of the pile , the type of cotton , the water quality , the temperature they dry at , the detergent , probably all of these factors.
I always purchase thick 100% cotton , soft to the touch , fluffy towells.

Can I maintain these in an enviromentally friendly way ?
I would love to hear how you maintain the fluffiness in your towells.

  1. I look forward to you finding the solution to this as I struggle with the same dilema - I've read that fabric softener is not meant to be good on your towels - affects their absorbancy I think...

  2. Dear Karyn
you know what,I've always liked my towels a bit rough and rarely use fabric softener..I've tried eco detergent but don't like it that much! usually, after a year, they no longer look that good and I buy some new! I know..this is hardly eco-friendly :((
P.S.thanks for your comment, you never pressure me, on the contrary, you're so sweet!
    Hugs to you

  3. I am naughty and usually put my towels in the dryer. I sometimes hang them on the line and then finish them off in the dryer. Seems to work.

  5. I've just discovered your blog and I'm enjoying reading it.

The only way I can get my towels soft and fluffy is by using the dryer.

To be kinder to the environment I line dry until almost dry and zapp them in the dryer for a few mins.

  6. Oh I do hope someone can give you some tips that you then can share with all of us! I wish I had a place to line dry, but I'm afraid the neighbors would make a ruckus. Did you ever here about that women who got in trouble from her development because she dried her clothes outside and people complained that it was an eyesore? Ugh people, can we just leave other people along and worry about yourselves for a change?

  8. Hello Karyn-
Loved your blog. Well, about the towels, I do not have a dryer since no space in our apartment, but I let the cleaning lady iron them for me and they are always so soft. Not eco friendly I know :( but very hygienic.

    luv from Turkiye.
